Yousuf bags the 'Test Player of the year' award |
Pakistani
batsman
Mohammad Yousuf has been given the
'Test Player of the year' award.
Yousuf's award comes after a prolific
last season in which he piled up
centuries after centuries which helped
him beat Vivian Richard's record of
scoring most runs in a calendar year.
Mohammad Yousuf however has put his
international career at a large risk by
joining the unrecognized Indian Cricket
League.
Yousuf after receiving the award told
that this is the first time for a
Pakistan player to win this award and
that he is particularly delighted with
that. He thanked God and his Pakistan
team-mates and also thanked the ICC
panel for voting him. Yousuf's race was
with Kevin Pietersen and Ricky Ponting.
But it was so difficult to ignore Yousuf
for this award as he had accumulated 944
runs in six tests from August 2006 to
August 2007.
