Harbhajan given the green signal to bowl by the
ICC |
Indian
off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has been cleared by
the ICC of suspect bowling action. Harbhajan can
continue to bowl in International Cricket if he
uses an action consistent with the one he had
used during the biomechanical tests. Harbhajan
had to take biomechanical tests at the
University of Western Australia in February. The
report from Marc Portus, biomechanist, who
conducted analysis after Harbhajan was reported
during the home series against Pakistan,
identified several differences in the action
used by Harbhajan and the action he used during
the biomechanical tests. Portus' report failed
to draw any conclusion on the action used by
Harbhajan during the Pakistan series. However
there was no problem with Harbhajan's action
during the tests and according to the ICC, his
action was perfectly fine. Harbhajan would be
playing for Surrey from next week. The off
spinner is just 1 wicket short to complete 200
Test scalps after playing 45 Tests. Harbhajan
has also taken 120 wickets in the 98 ODIs he has
played ever since his debut in 1998.
