Ganguly to be
back in the team from Aug 3 |
July 28, 2005
The
decision regarding Sourav Ganguly's appeal
against his 6-ODIs ban has finally come with
just 2 days before the start of the tri series.
And the news is that Sourav Ganguly continues to
be suspended from ODIs but the comforting news
for Ganguly is that he needs to sit out only for
the next two games. This is because the ICC has
reduced the 6-ODIs ban to 4 and with Ganguly
sitting out in the last two ODIs against
Pakistan, Ganguly would be away from the Indian
team line up by only 2 matches. Meanwhile the
BCCI has decided to play Ganguly in this
tournament and the latter is supposed to reach
Colombo on Monday. So effectively Sourav Ganguly
would be missing the first two One Dayers with
India playing Sri Lanka on 30th and then the
West Indies on the 31st. It can be recalled that
it was Match Referee Chirs Broad who had imposed
this ban on Ganguly during the Pakistan Series
in April. Ganguly could well be in action in
Indian colours on the 3rd of August when India
takes on the homeside under lights at Dambulla.
