The record for the highest opening partnership of a team batting first but eventually losing, goes to Sherwin Campbell and Adrian Griffith who started the match, with an opening stand of 276 for West Indies against New Zealand, but New Zealand ended up winning easily.


The only other player involved in both matches when Lara scored 375 and 400 respectively, was Graham Thorpe, who scored 9 in 1994 and 10 in 2004. Coincidentally, Darell Hair was one of the Umpires in both the Test Matches. Angus Fraser who took 2/21 in 1994 was one among the several Media men when Lara scored 400.

 


Nayan Mongia played 140 ODIs for India without ever getting a Man of the Match Award. He recorded a wonderful 154 dismissals in ODI's with a highest ODI score of 69 at Sharjah against Pakistan.


In Tests, The Record for the best bowling analysis by someone who started the match as a wicketkeeper is 4 for 19, by the Hon. Alfred Lyttelton of England against Australia at The Oval in 1884.
