Duleep Trophy  : England A Vs South Zone, Gurgaon

Feb 24

South Zone pulled off an incredible win over England A in their Duleep Trophy match at Gurgaon. Chasing a mammoth target of 501, South Zone got off to a horrifying start at 1/2. But Andhra's Venugopal Rao joined Sridharan Sriram and this pair played some out-of-the-blue cricket to put on a spirited 226 runs partnership for the 3rd wicket. Sriram was out for a brilliant 117. Badrinath who joined Venugopal Rao continued the good work done by Sriram and South Zone pulled off an incredible victory, chasing a huge target of 501 and losing just 4 wickets. And they could do it without Sadagoppan Ramesh who couldn't bat in both the innings after injuring his finger. Venugopala Rao was unbeaten on an amazing 228 which had 32 fours and Badrinath remained unbeaten on exactly a 100.
