Hoggard replaces Flintoff for the One Dayers |
Matthew Hoggard has been
recalled to England's one-day squad after an
absence of two years. He will replace Andrew
Flintoff, who is set to undergo an ankle
operation, for the seven-match series in South
Africa.
Simon Jones will also be
staying on with the one-day squad as cover for
Steve Harmison, who has a calf problem. England
now have a 17-man squad for the one-day series,
including seven front-line seam bowlers. They
will be looking to maintain the form which
carried them to the ICC Champions Trophy final
last September and a 4-0 victory in Zimbabwe
prior to beginning the South African tour.
Hoggard last played a
limited overs international against Australia in
Sydney in January 2003, and has a record of 27
wickets from 20 matches.
