England bring back the Worcestershire Trio

August 6, 2003:

England have recalled Worcestershire trio Kabir Ali, Gareth Batty and Vikram Solanki to the 14-man squad for next month's NatWest Challenge and ICC Champions Trophy campaigns.

They have been drafted back into England's plans following a disappointing NatWest Series campaign when they failed to qualify for the final of their own competition for only the second time in the five years since it started.

Vikram Solanki replaces Robert Key, who failed to convince during this summer's triangular tournament, while Kabir is recalled having failed to get onto the field in his only previous one-day international - the rain-affected match against Zimbabwe at Headingley last summer.

Squad: Michael Vaughan, Kabir Ali, James Anderson, Gareth Batty, Paul Collingwood, Andrew Flintoff, Ashley Giles, Darren Gough, Stephen Harmison, Geraint Jones, Anthony McGrath, Vikram Solanki, Andrew Strauss, Marcus Trescothick.
