Afridi gets ban for his cheap tactics
|
November 22
Shahid
Afridi found himself in some real trouble
during the 2nd drinks interval of the final
session on
Day 2 of the 2nd Test at Faisalabad. The
Stadium and the players just got their minds
distracted by a minor cylinder explosion near
the ad hoardings near the boundary. Afridi
during the drinks break scuffed up the bowlers'
footmarks at one of the ends on purpose. He
started to scuff the business area of the wicket
with his boots and applied enough pressure to
damage the pitch, little did Shahid Afridi know
that what he was doing was caught on the camera
and was seen by millions of cricket followers!
Later after the day's play Afridi admitted to be
guilty of his act in an hearing with the ICC
Match Referee Roshan Mahanama. Afridi was given
a ban of one Test and two ODIs, the Pakistan
Cricket Board has stated that it would hold an
inquiry into this issue soon.
