Vaughan to return home; Flintoff to lead
|
Feb 27, 2006
England's woes on India Tour continue as Michael
Vaughan has been ruled out of the complete Test
Series. Michael Vaughan is out due to the same
knee injury which made him miss the first Test
in the last Series against Pakistan. All rounder
Andrew Flintoff has now been elevated to the
Captaincy of the side with even Vaughan's deputy
Trescothick being absent for this Series. The
first Test begins day after tomorrow and England
are struggling to get 11 fit players on the
ground. Middle Order batsman Owais Shah has been
called up to join the squad. He along with
Alistair Cook and James Anderson were not part
of the original Test Squad, so is Monty Panesar
who was later added to strengthen the spin
department. England have now lost Ashley Giles,
Marcus Trescothick and Michael Vaughan in this
Series. Ashes hero Simon Jones is also injured
and he might well miss out the first Test at
Nagpur.
