Trescothick returns back home due to personal
reasons |
Feb 26, 2006
A depleted England squad received a major blow
yesterday as Marcus Trescothick decided to
return back home citing personal reasons.
Trescothick is believed to have left the stadium
in tears. England's Coach Duncan Fletcher didn't
reveal much about the reasons behind
Trescothick's sudden decision to leave the tour
abruply.
Fletcher maintained that it was due to his
personal reasons and nothing more was revealed
about this. Trescothick is all certain to miss
the 1st Test and he can also be ruled out of the
entire tour. England have called up opening
batsman Alistair Cook and James Anderson as
cover. The visitors are facing shortage of fit
players with Michael Vaughan nursing a knee
injury, Paul Collingwood and Kevin Pietersen
having problems with their back, Simon Jones
affected with a stomach upset and medium pacer
Liam Plunkett not bowling more than 2 overs in
the entire match at Baroda.
