Anderson comes in
for Bopara for Twenty20 |
England's
emerging one day talent - Ravi Bopara has been
ruled out of the Twenty20 World Cup. Bopara is
out of action for four to six weeks after
sustaining a hairline fracture on his right
thumb. Fast bowler James Anderson, who has had a
great summer in both Tests and ODIs against
India has been named as the replacement for the
Essex all rounder.
Bopara has been very unlucky on the injuries
that have put him away from action since the
World Cup in the Caribbean. First he was ruled
out of the West Indies series with a thigh
injury and when he made his comeback against
India, an onfield injury has halted his
progress. He is indeed unlucky as it was in the
4th game that he had won England the match at
Old Trafford out of a losing situation. In the
fifth match at Leeds, Bopara trying to get his
hands to take a return catch offered by a
Gambhir's drive got hit on his thumb. Following
that Bopara had to immediately leave the field
but he was brave enough to bat after taking a
pain killing injection.
England are
waiting for Andrew Flintoff's results on his
troublesome ankle. Freddie will be undergoing a
fitness test at Lord's which will decide whether
his fate in featuring in the 7th ODI against
India and also the Twenty20 tournament in South
Africa.
