Devang Gandhi to lead Bengal |
Kolkata, Jan 6 : Middle-order batsman
Devang Gandhi was today named Bengal captain and
would lead the side in the forthcoming Ranji
Trophy one-day inter-zonal tournament beginning
here on January 11.
Gandhi, who has the experience of leading the
side earlier, succeeded Rohan Gavaskar, who
stepped down from captaincy in the face of
criticisms over Bengal's poor performance this
season.
He, however, ruled out speculations over India
captain Sourav Ganguly being asked to lead
Bengal during his availability and told that no
such discussion has taken place during the
selectors meeting.
