Sachin to captain
West Zone in Duleep Trophy |
Oct
7, 2005
Sachin
Tendulkar has been named as the Skipper of a 15
members West Zone squad for this season's Duleep
Trophy. Sairaj Bahutule who has now moved to the
Maharashtra team after serving the Mumbai
cricket team for a long time would be his
deputy. This season's Duleep Trophy is scheduled
to start from October 20 and West Zone take on
South at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. It is
unlikely that Sachin Tendulkar, Irfan Pathan,
Ajit Agarkar and Zaheer Khan would be playing in
this match as it coincides with the training
camp of the Indian team ahead of the 7 ODIs
Series against the visiting Sri Lankans. It can
be recalled that Central Zone led by Mohammad
Kaif won last season's Duleep Trophy when they
beat the North by 9 wickets at Nagpur.
