Ganguly fit to
play in the Duleep Trophy opener |
Oct
18, 2005
 Former
Indian Skipper Sourav Ganguly has passed his
1st test of making a comeback in the Indian
team. Ganguly who was suffering from a 'mild
tennis elbow' is fit and is ready to play the
Duleep Trophy opener which begins on October
20. He is the skipper of East Zone and East
Zone takes on North Zone at Rajkot. The left
hander was examined by the Indian team John
Gloster and Dr. Anant Joshi, chief of the BCCI's
Medical Panel today in Mumbai. Ganguly had to
miss the Challenger Trophy and has been
dropped from the Indian team for the 1st two
ODIs against Sri Lanka. Rahul Dravid has been
named as the skipper for the next 12 ODIs
which are to be played against Sri Lanka (7)
and South Africa (5). Last season it was
Sachin Tendulkar who had the tennis elbow
symptom and the batting legend made his
comeback into competitive cricket in a Duleep
Trophy match for West Zone against South at
Hyderabad. If Ganguly makes a great comeback
by hitting a big score in the Duleep Trophy
encounter than he stands a chance of making it
to the Indian team for the 3rd ODI, the side
for which would be picked in Mohali on 28th
October.
