Twenty
two year old Kerala's new ball bowler S. Sree
Santh has been picked in the Indian Squad for
the first two One Day Internationals against
Sri Lanka. He now becomes only the second
player from Kerala after Tinu Yohannan to be
selected in the Indian team. Sree Santh has 58
first class wickets as of date with two five
wicket hauls and also happens to be the first
Kerala bowler to take a hat-trick in the Ranji
Trophy. Along with Sree Santh, dashing left
hand opener Gautam Gambhir has also made it to
the squad in place of Sourav Ganguly who is
not fit owing to his tennis elbow injury.
Young guns Y.Venugopal Rao, Suresh Raina and
Rudra Pratap Singh who were all part of the
Videocon Tri Series in Zimbabwe have retained
their places. V.V.S.Laxman, Zaheer Khan and
Lakshmipathy Balaji have failed to get into
the One Day Side. Mohammad Kaif who tore his
hamstring during the final of the Challenger
Trophy is also out of the side for the 2 ODIs.
The side will be captained by
Rahul Dravid and
he will be leading the side for the 2 ODIs
Series against Sri Lanka and South Africa as
announced yesterday. The 1st ODI between
India and Sri Lanka begins on October 25th at
Nagpur.
