The National Selectors led by Kiran More have
brought in 2 changes to the Indian Squad that
has already won the 7 ODIs series 4-1. They have
brought in Mohammad Kaif who has returned to
full fitness from his hamstring injury and have
included quick bowler Vikram Singh of Punjab.
Mohammad Kaif had proved his fitness by playing
for Central
Zone against West Zone at Aurangabad in the
Duleep Trophy match. Venugopal Rao who has been impressive in this
series and J.P.Yadav who has had moderate
performances have been dropped from this squad
for the 2 ODIs to be played against Sri Lanka at Rajkot and Baroda. Vikram Singh (V.R.V.Singh) is
one of the quickest bowlers in India after Munaf
Patel and has done exceedingly well in the
domestic circuit after making his Ranji Trophy
debut just last season, the 21 year old tall
bowler has got many batsmen at first class level
hopping to his bowling. Recently the boy was in
the news for his effective performance with both
ball and the bat and also knocking off Sourav
Ganguly on his helmet at Rajkot in a Duleep
Trophy encounter. Former Captain Sourav Ganguly
now has to wait whether he can make it for the
South Africa Series or not.
