Yuvraj not ruled
out of World Cup |
November 13, 2006
Yuvraj
Singh's chances of playing the 2007 World Cup
have been enhanced following his check up on
Monday by the BCCI's Orthopedic Consultant
Dr.Anant Joshi. The middle order batsman may not
require the knee surgery and is expected to get
it back to full strength in the next few months.
A reassessment of the knee will be done after
two weeks to see how he progresses and whether
he has to undergo surgery or not.
The left hander had injured his knee while
playing kho-kho during the warm up drills before
the Champions Trophy match against Australia.
Yuvraj was diagnosed with a cruciate ligament
injury in his left knee. He is now using
crutches for walking support. If it is decided
that he has to undergo surgery after the
re-check up after two weeks, then he will have
to leave to Australia for the operation and the
recovery time after that is likely to be six
months which should rule him out of the World
Cup in the Caribbean. Yuvraj has already been
ruled out of this month's South Africa's tour.
Dinesh Karthik, the Tamil Nadu wicket keeper is
his stand-by who would be leaving with the team
tonight for South Africa.
