India retain same
squad for the first 3 ODIs against South Africa |
Nov
12, 2005
The Selectors have persisted with the same squad
that has been playing for the last 3 ODIs
against Sri Lanka for the first 3 ODIs against
South Africa.
Y.Venugopal Rao failed to make it to
the squad despite his decent show in the 4 ODIs
he had played against Sri Lanka. All rounder Jai
Prakash Yadav has retained his place. Yadav was
initially omitted along with Venugopal Rao was
called back in place of the injured Vikram Singh
at Rajkot. Vikram Singh is out of action for
more than two weeks because of an ankle injury.
All the big names like Sourav Ganguly, Zaheer
Khan, VVS Laxman, Anil Kumble, Ashish Nehra have
been ignored yet again as the selectors kept
their faith in the same squad. For the
Selectors' defence, no single player in the 15
has failed miserably and team India has won 6-1
against Sri Lanka with an emphatic 5-wicket win
today at Baroda. The 1st ODI between India and
South Africa is on the 16th of this month at
Hyderabad.
