India's
New Selection Committee headed by Krish Srikkanth has rested
ace batsman Sachin Tendulkar from the first three ODIs of the
upcoming series against England. The Selectors have picked
Tamil Nadu's T Vijay, who was called up for the Nagpur Test
has been included in this ODI Squad following his exploits in
the domestic circuit. Irfan Pathan and Praveen Kumar have been
left out although the latter didn't do badly at all in the
last couple of ODI Series. Middle order batsman S Badrinath
has also been left out.
The Selectors have gone in for Baroda's
blazing batsman Yusuf Pathan, who didn't create ripples in the
7 ODIs that he has played but has played quite a few stunning
knocks in the IPL and other domestic games. It is
interesting to note that it was Sachin
Tendulkar, who has asked the Board to rest him. Zaheer Khan
and Ishant Sharma have been included to bolster the bowling
attack with the duo of Irfan Pathan and Praveen Kumar making
way for them. The Selectors might look to rotate the players
for the 7 ODIs as India seems to be having a lot of quality
players waiting to get the opportunities. The ODI Series
against England kicks off on the 14th at Rajkot.
