Dravid injured by
a bouncer in nets |
May 09, 2007
Indian
Skipper Rahul Dravid has been knocked
down by a nasty bouncer from left arm
quick R.P.Singh that has left him
injured in the penultimate day of the
five-day conditioning camp in Kolkata.
Fortunately, the injury that Dravid has
got is not a serious one and is expected
to be fine with a day's rest. The Indian
Skipper did receive the blow on his nose
but luckily the grill of his helmet had
reduced quite a significant amount of
shock.
Dravid's case wasn't an insignificant
one-off incident like the Sachin
Tendulkar awkward fall to a rising
delivery from Sreesanth on the first
day. Dravid was left bleeding
considerably but John Gloster, the
team's Physio came in time to do the
damage control. An ENT Specialist later
diagnosed the injury as "nose trauma".
There was no fracture detected by the
X-Rays. The entire episode did bring up
speculations that Virender Sehwag would
be asked to lead the side in the first
ODI in case Rahul Dravid wasn't going to
be fit by the 10th. Among all the
players that were called for the camp,
only VVS Laxman couldn't attend even a
single day of the camp as he was
suffering from gastroenteritis.
