Indians to arrive
in two batches for Pakistan tour |
Dec 28, 2005
The BCCI has ordered the Indian squad to go into
two different batches for the Pakistan tour. The
first batch consists of twelve players with
Rahul Dravid and Greg Chappell going in the
first batch. These twelve players along with the
coach Greg Chappell, Manager Raj Singh Dungarpur
and the support staff would depart to Lahore on
the 5th of January. The 12 players would take
part in the 3-day warm up match against Pakistan
A at the Bagh-e-Jinnah Ground in Lahore which
begins on the 7th. The remaining four players –
Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, Anil Kumble and
Parthiv Patel have been asked by the Board to
play their respective Ranji Trophy matches for
their states which begin on January 3. All these
four players would reach Lahore on the 7th. The
Chairman of Selectors Kiran More was upset that
Sourav Ganguly had missed the last two rounds of
the Ranji Trophy for his state Bengal. Sourav
got a letter from the BCCI asking him about his
absence for the two matches for which the former
skipper gave the reason of having prior family
commitments. The Board has been insisting all
its players to be match fit with the exception
of skipper Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar who
have been asked to rest by the physio.
