Uthappa likely to make his ODI debut at Guwahati |
April 8, 2006
Team
India is likely to test out youngster
Robin Uthappa
at the top in the Guwahati One Dayer. With India
winning the series already with a 4-0 lead,
skipper
Rahul Dravid has been rested. An automatic
replacement for Dravid in the XI would be
Y.Venugopal Rao but there are equal chances of
the Karnataka opening batsman Robin Uthappa
making the XI.
Mohammad Kaif might get the axe following
his dismal performances with the bat.
Vikram Rajvir Singh
who was the original change for Rahul Dravid may
not be playing as the management might be
looking to get back
Rudra Pratap Singh and
Munaf Patel in the line up. As far as Robin
Uthappa goes, he is a 20 year old who had come
into prominence during the U 19 Asia Cup and
then the U19 World Cup in Bangladesh 2004. Robin
then eventually made his Ranji Trophy Debut and
soon cemented his place in the Karnataka Ranji
Side. With a couple of rocking hundreds, he got
into the India B squad in this season's
Challenger Trophy where he caught the eyes of
many with a
scintillating knock of 116 in 93 balls.
