Hyderabad, 9.2.2005
Senior
Cricket Coach M.R.Baig has expressed his
willingness to contribute for Cricketfundas.com
on a weekly basis. And that indeed is good news
for cricket fanatics wanting to know the 'FUNDAS'
of the game in and out. M.R.Baig is a former
Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy Player for
Services and North Zone respectively from
1958-70. He also became a Qualified Coach from
the National Institute Of Sports, Patiala in
1962. He has been associated with the Ministry
of External Affairs, Govt. of India as a Cricket
Coach for Maldives under the ITEC Scheme.
One
of the highlights in his coaching stint has been
his association with the India U 19 squad that
toured Sri Lanka in 1982. That team had the
names of Ravi Shastri, Navjot Sidhu, Sadanand
Vishwanath, L.Sivaramakrishnan, Chandrakanth
Pandit and others. Guess what all the 15 players
in that squad went on to play for India at the
International level. M.R.Baig and Cricket in
Andhra Pradesh have had a long association with
the former rendering his wisdom to many
cricketers like Md.Azharuddin, V.V.S.Laxman,
M.S.K.Prasad and many others. He was the SAAP
(Sports Association of Andhra Pradesh) Coach
from 1991-2001. He was also the SAI (Sports
Authority Of India) Coach from 1974-2001.
Speaking to Cricketfundas.com's correspondents,
M.R.Baig has promised to bring out the FINER
ASPECTS OF COACHING through his weekly column -
FUNDAS GURUS. Baig also throws up a challenge to
correct the technical flaws of any International
Cricketer through Queries. Any
Cricketfundas.com's visitor can post their
doubts about the game to Baig through email and
the best Queries would be put up on the website
for the benefit of all the cricket lovers.
