Ganguly to replace Tendulkar for Afro-Asian

Sachin TendulkarSachin Tendulkar has pulled out of the Afro-Asian Cup. Not only Sachin but a few more players as well have shown their non-interest in the event. Therefore the Asian Cricket Council Selection Committee has revised its squad. Sourav Ganguly is one of the replacements for the 3-ODIs series which starts in the first week of June.

The reasons for Tendulkar's non participation hasn't been revealed by the Committee. Other players who were selected but not going to make it are Shoaib Akhtar, Chaminda Vaas, Lasith Malinga. Shoaib Akhtar had pulled out several days back because of his knee injury. Vaas and Malinga have cited personal reasons. This has got Zaheer Khan into the squad. Ironically Zaheer Khan was a success in the first Afro-Asian Cup which was held in South Africa. The other two replacements are Bangladesh's Mashrafe Mortaza and Sri Lanka's Dilhara Fernando.

There is also one change in the Twenty20 team because of the back injury to Munaf Patel. Sreesanth, who just had a calf injury that had ruled him out of the Bangladesh Test Series has been the replacement for Munaf. In the One Day Squad. The first ODI is on the 6th at Bangalore while the second and third are on the 9th and 10th at Chennai.
